EA Skate
We wanted to give you a quick update on EA's Skate. The game website launched today. If you've seen this video, you'll know by now that where Skate will differ from Tony Hawk is in the control department.

Where Tony had us pressing ten different button combinations to perform a single trick, Skate simply asks you to move the right analog stick in a certain way.

For example, to olley you press the stick down then all the way up. It's this sort of natural movement that should make Skate a lot simpler to pick up and play. Skate should therefore be more accessible to newbies to the skateboarding genre as well - something that could increase sales considerably.

The real question is how well EA can pull this off. There are only so many variations of movement you can do with an analog stick, after all. Check out the new site for info on all the featured in-game skaters announced thus far including Danny Way, Jerry Hsu and Mark Gonzales. You can even watch videos of the skaters doing their thing.
