ImageWEST BAY, N.S. (CP) - A 14-year-old skateboarder is dead after he was hit by a car on a Cape Breton highway.

The RCMP say Jeremy Michael Tucker was among four teenagers walking along a highway in West Bay on Friday afternoon.

A police news release says the teen skateboarded onto the highway, apparently unaware that a vehicle was passing the group.

Jeremy, who was not wearing any safety equipment at the time, ran into the passenger side of the vehicle.

He died overnight in hospital.
