Jimmy Gorecki, Ice Cream Shoes
Ice Cream team rider, Jimmy Gorecki, stops by for an interview. Where are you from?
Born in Norristown, Pa but spent everyday shreddin in downtown once I figured how to trick Septa train workers .

Who are your current sponsors?
Zoo York, Ice Cream, Independent, and Nocturnal.

How long have you been skateboarding?
Ten years.

Tell us a little bit about your start in skateboarding and at what point did you realize you were making it to the top?
Just eventually met alot of people. Kerry Getz, Kevin Taylor..These were the two main industry guys that helped me out..Sal Barbier and Clyde Singleton too..Once Kevin got me on Aesthestics I figured the ball was rollin. Things have changed alot from the days at Aesthetics though..Never thought shit would be like it is today with traveling and actually being able to provide for myself..

How has life changed for you in the past year?
Definitely in a positive way...Nino Scalia and Terry Kennedy got me involved with the Ice Cream Sneaker Project and this has been non-stop fun since the beginning..Just gets to give kids outside of the direct skateboarding community a correct perspective of what it really is..No offense, but alot of people I know that don't skate ask me if I'm jumpin the Great Wall of China next..How unrealistic is that for the nornal kid skatin the curb out front of his crib?

What do you love about skateboarding?
Meeting new people from all over the world and being able to give back to the kids...Cuz I was the same and still am the same from when I first started...Kids are psyched to meet you and if you give them a lil bit of insight they can take that with them for the rest of their lives..I know I can still remember the first time I met a pro or actually got the chance to talk to someone up there...I was the happiest kid on earth...Just giving back that same love to skateboarding.

What was your first board?
Toys R Us...I had so many and at each holiday was bummed cuz it wasn't a real board...Lookin back, I couldn't have gotten a cooler toy in the world.

What skateboarders are you impressed with today?
Soo many..Mostly my friends and teammates..Kevin Taylor is a living legend and he don't even know it..Tony Montgomery is a very talented individual..Terry Kennedy..He has soo much raw talent..I'm always impressed most with east coast kids cuz i see myself in all of em..

 What's your warm up trick?
Dunno...today well see..my ankles been hurt the past week.

What's the last trick you did?
Switch Heelflip.

Do you have any favorite skate spots?
Love Park forever...and City Hall...Macba in Barcelona...I skate there until my legs hurt.

Who was the last person you skated with?
KT, Pete Eldridge, Kenny Hughes.

What do you love about New Jersey?
Everone from Jerz is a psycho...Just in the water...Best people on Earth...

What do you do when you're not skateboarding?
School, chill with my nephews....relax at the skateshop or sneaker store my friend owns named Afficial.

Where were you when you heard the news that Harold Hunter passed away?
Eating dinner with my mom...Lost my appetite.

How has Harold Hunter changed your life?
Just makes you appreciate things more...

Tell us about one genuine moment you had with Harold Hunter.
Too many..I only knew him for the past two years, but Harold had a sense of making you feel like you've known him forever. I went to Europe last summer with him and hurt my ankle real bad the second day of the trip. From that point it was ongoing comedy because he did whatever it took to keep my mind occupied and keep us all humored...He's an East Coast legend...paved the way for anyone outside of california...

Do you have any advice for the skateboarders out there?
Just do you. Don't get caught up following the trends because history repeats itself over and over...Have fun..I must say stay in school and keep focused on the positive aspects in life..

Any last words/shouts?
Thank you guys for this interview..Watch out for the Ice Cream ads just out..shoes in April...and they ain't two hundred dollars..made cheap so everyone can rock em! Thanks.
