Interview with 5boro flow and NJSkateshop rider, Lorena Lima. What is your name?
Lorena Lima.

How old are you, Lorena?
I'm 15.

Where are you from?
Parlin, NJ

How long have you been skateboarding?
About 4 years now.

Who are your current sponsors?
NJ Skateshop, Etnies, and Five Boro.

Where do you find yourself skateboarding most of the time?
Well, on the weekdays I'm always at Sayreville skatepark because I live a block from it, but usually on the weekends me, my brother, and a couple friends skate New York or Philly.

When you go to these different spots do other skateboarders look at you like you have 6 heads because you're a female?
Hahaha. Sometimes, but its funny when they can see that I can do something other than a "kickflip." I'm not like other girls that just skate because of the "boys."

From what I hear you're in a relationship.  Does your boyfriend skateboard, too?
Yeah. He skates. I take him skating with me all the time. Its awesome to do something you love with someone you love.

Who wins when you guys play SKATE?
Me?

Do you look up to any female skateboarders?
All of them that rip shit up! (Vanessa, Amy, Elisa, ect)

Do you push any of your female friends to skateboard?
Well, They all want to learn but you know, they try. They buy a new board then give up in a week. Its just not right for some people I guess. I love skating with other girls. Like I have this friend Sheena. I love skating with her. It makes it so much funner to skate with other girls instead of just guys, guys, guys.

Have you seen the new MTV Made episode?
Haha YES! Its good to see other girls try to learn, but they care wayyyyyy to much about there appearence then actually learning.

Was as painful for you as it was for that "Made" skateboarder when you first started?
Actually, not really. My first time on a board I knew how to ride and everything, but when you start trying tricks and such, then yeah.

What was the last trick you were working on?
Back tails, back tails, back tails! Oh man do I hate back tails!

Have you had any serious injuries yet?
Nope, no broken bones or stiches or anything. Just sprains

What kind of stuff does Lorena like to shred?
Hubbas, flat, boxes, banks, and just random streetspots

What was your worst experience when you were out at random streetspots?
Umm... lets see, I dont know about worst, but when I was at will penn I went to nollie off the top ledge and whenI landed my hand landed in glass, it sucked. Also, when I got a $100 ticket for SKATEBOARDING.

Where were you skateboarding when you got the ticket?
GMC car dealer ship, its a fun spot and that was the first time i ever got kicked out. I guess they were having a bad day or something.

Do you have any advice you'd like to give to females that are thinking about skateboarding?
If you're going to learn how to skate, make sure you want to learn for yourself not because its "the cool thing to do", it will be hard but stick with it.

Lorena, thank you for the chat.  We wish you luck in your skateboarding career.  Stay away from the broken bones! Do you have any last words?
Never forget that you started skating because it was fun, and continue to have fun, dont make it a job.
