Where do you currently reside? Los Angeles...Beautiful Lake Hollywood Name all your current sponsors. DC, Alien Workshop, Silver Trucks, Spy Optic, and Red Bull. Are there any people today that you look up to? I look up to alot of people..mostly hard working straight shooters... Where were some of the places you skated when you were a teenager? I skated all over the world when I was a teenager. It was such a different time in street skating. Everything was legal. I would go to Colombus, Chicago, Toronto, San Diego, New Orleans. There was just so much to skate in these cities back then... Was skateboarding competitive back then as it is now? What was it like in your eyes? It's no different to me then it was then. It has always been a hard thing to do well in. There will always be those incredible talents that never quite make it. Who was the last person you skated with and where? Anthony Van Englen and Jim Greco at Berra and Kostons park in LA. What skateboarders are you impressed with today? Jim Greco is a straight street warrior. I have never been around someone so balls to the wall...as far as complete skaters..I would say Devine Calloway is probably my favorite skater right now. P-Rod and Guy Mariano are right there though.. What was the last trick you were working on? I have been trying to 360 heelfip a picnic table off a bump.... What is a typical weekend like for Rob Dyrdek? Weekends are pretty methodic...usually have a few things that I want to try and do and go out and battle.. The skate plaza was a genius idea. From a business point of view how long did it take for you and DC to plan it all out and get everything approved by the towns? Did you hit any bumps along the way? It took three years to do. It was so much more than I ever expected. I couldn't even begin to list all the bumps. It was worth it. It is somthing that really needed to be done.
Will there be any Skate Plaza in the tri-state area (NJ, NY, CT)? Hopefully. What is your favorite section of the Skate Plaza if you had to pick one? I really love the section that is the flatbar off the three stair that leads in to the 7 stair. It's not too often shit lines up like that in the streets. I do believe that the DC Basketball video is real, but some kids don't. Set the record straight. So real it hurts. We all got so serious about it. It took me four days of trying like two hours a day to make the frontside board shot. It was one of the most frustrating things I have ever done. What has Big Black been up to? Doing it real big. We live together in Hollywood and we just finished a pilot for MTV. Last question, when was the last time you were in New Jersey and what were you doing? Kerry Getz gave me a ride in his Turbo Porsche and we got lost and ended up in Camden...shit was so ghetto. Do you have any last words? Look out for Rouge Status...Street Dreams... and the Rob and BIG BLACK Show.... Interview by Eric Mendoza
